On Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17, the women’s golf team took a trip to Florence, Ind. to compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) tournament. The Eagles had themselves a great showing, but end up falling just short and finishing in second place.
Freshman Zoe Mort had a strong showing in both the stroke and match play rounds finishing stroke play with a total of 222 good enough for sixth place individually. Fellow freshman Anna Machamer had a strong showing finishing just two places behind Mort in a tie for eight during stroke play and tying her match play round after shooting 75.
The Eagles had three rounds to play to try and earn their way into the match play portion of the tournament where they were able to do so finishing in second place after shooting a three-roundtotal of 56-over par. They would then have matchup against the Findlay Oilers who finished stroke play with a team total of 22-over par. The Oilers would take four out of the five matches in match play to win the G-MAC title as the Eagles fall just short.
The Eagles will now wait for May 4 as the NCAA regional tournament will take place in Findlay, Ohio.
