On March 13, the Ashland University women’s lacrosse team fell by one point against the Northern Michigan Wildcats. It was a back and forth battle the entire game, but ultimately the Eagles lose their second straight game 13-12.
Sophomore midfielder Tori Wanat led the way for the Eagle notching four goals and tacking on an assist as well to finish with five points on the afternoon. Junior attacker Ashley Drexler and senior attacker Ashley Fisher both netted three goals for the Eagles in the loss.
For the Wildcats it was junior attacker Josie Lakosky who finished with five goals and two assists in the one-point victory. Sophomore attacker Hannah Jabas and junior attacker Avery Lorinserhad three goals apiece to help the Wildcats pick up the victory.
The Eagles held a two-goal lead after the first stanza, which was then answered by five straight goals from the Wildcats who held a one goal lead at the halftime break. The two sides were knotted up at 12 apiece with two-minutes left in the contest then a minute later the Wildcats would score the go-ahead and eventual game winning goal.
The Eagles fall to 3-4 on the season following the loss and now look ahead to the first contest in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play when they face off against the Ursuline Arrows on the road on March 15.
