On Feb. 18 the Ashland University women’s lacrosse team played their second regular season game on the road at No. 11 ranked Slippery Rock. This was the first meeting between the two programs, and the Rock came out on top 18-9.
The Eagles received contributions from many different players as four Eagles netted two goals in the loss. Sophomore midfielder Tori Wanat racked up four points scoring two goals and assisting on two of the Eagles eight goals.
The scoring started early in this matchup as the Eagles found the net just three and a half minutes into the contest before relinquishing the next 10 goals of the contest. The Eagles scored only one goal through the first two quarters before tallying five in the third. For Slippery Rock, it was four goals in the first two quarters which they then followed up by five goals apiece in quarters three and four on their way to victory.
The Eagles now sit at 1-1 on the young season and look ahead to a home matchup against the Gannon Golden Knights on Feb. 25 at 4 pm at Ferguson Field.
