The Ashland University Women’s basketball team was able to end their three-game losing streak on Feb. 5 against the Thomas More Saints. The Eagles are able to get themselves back on track in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) defeating the Saints 62-59.
Redshirt freshman forward Kyra Hill had an incredible game finishing with 10 points and a career high in rebounds finishing with 15 boards to go along with five blocks. Junior Katelyn Harabedian also added some support finishing with 11 points and two blocked shots.
For the Saints it was redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Leonard who led the way scoring 16 points and going a perfect six-for-six from the free throw line. Leonard also got help from senior Rylee Turner who was another saint in double figures finishing with 13 points.
The game got out to a slow start in the first half as at the halfway break the teams were knotted up at 23 a piece. The Eagles took the lead going into the fourth quarter where the Eagles did not surrender the lead the rest of the way holding off the Saint’s late charge to claim victory.
The Eagles have a quick turnaround playing at Kate’s Gymnasium once again to host the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Feb. 7 with tipoff set for 1 pm.
