On Jan. 31 the Ashland University women’s basketball team made the four-hour trip up north to Midland, MI to take on the Timberwolves. The Eagles looking snap a two-game skid lose 73-58 on the road to make it three straight loses.
The Eagles got yet another 20 points and 15 plus rebound game from freshman forward Jenna Slates despite the loss. Slates got some help from fellow starters in sophomore guard Ashley Mullet and junior forward Katelyn Harabedian who both scored 11 points.
For the Timberwolves senior guard Maeve St. John continues to make her case for Great Midwest Athletic Conference player of year scoring 24 points shooting six-of-seven from beyond the arc. It was a 27-point second quarter from the Timberwolves that helped them secure yet another victory on their home floor.
The first quarter was a closely contested with the Timberwolves leading by four, that lead would then ballon after a couple St. John three-pointers to 20 going into the halfway point. The Timberwolves would never look back after the break and continue to improve their impressive conference season now at 12-1 in the G-MAC.
The Eagles who sit at 11-8 overall now have two-straight home games on Feb. 5 and Feb. 7 when they host the Thomas More Saints and the Kentucky Weslyean Panthers inside of Kate’s Gymnasium.
