Loni Love showers AU with big laughs

By Emily Sedlak

Keeping warm after Friday’s snow day, many AU students found themselves in for a treat as comedian Loni Love took the stage.

The comedian began her act at 9 p.m. and within seconds promised the crowd fun, interactive entertainment.

The comedian started the night off with semi-crude, yet undoubtedly hilarious jokes pertaining to Ashland’s campus and student body.

Although the comedian’s humor may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Love did share inspiring advice about body image and overlooking the “small stuff” life throws at you.

“Loni Love could make you burst out laughing one minute and feel inspirational the next,” Jerry Arko said.

Keeping the night light-hearted and highly entertaining, Love poked fun at herself and many of the audience members.

Love also featured cash contests that allowed students to show off their skills and laugh at one another.

During one of the contests, students were given the opportunity to prove themselves as “pick-up line gurus” to their fellow peers.

In addition to pick-up line abilities, Love also incorporated a talent contest that brought rappers, bird whisperers and avid worm dancers to the stage.

“I loved her! I’ve seen some of her material before and enjoyed her entire performance,” Sarah Young said. “It was nice to have some college humor for a change.”

Although some had not heard of the comedian prior to the event, the line out the door for photos and memorabilia confirmed Love’s comedic success among AU students.

This comedian’s performance was just the comic relief many students needed to pull them through the week prior to spring break.
