On Tuesday, Oct. 18 the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra (AUJO) held its first concert of the year in Eagle’s Nest.
Director Scott Garlock led the group of 19 individuals, which played ten songs from a variety of different jazz backgrounds, featuring songs from a variety of genres such as Latin, gospel and swing tunes.

Many of the songs featured the students improvising solos, such as Jacob Bodnar on mellophone, Grant Vance playing guitar and Domenic Cole on alto saxophone. Singer Leah Debracy was featured in two songs: “Our Love is Here to Stay” and “Orange Colored Sky.” Faculty member Joe Lewis was also featured throughout the pieces.

The next concert is the Christmas Alumni concert in Hugo Young Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 8.
