Miller wins District 67 State House race
Republican Melanie Miller defeated Democrat Drew Burge for the District 67 State House seat in the top local race Tuesday.
In the newly created district, which included all of Ashland County and parts of Medina County, Miller of Ashland won with 70% of the vote compared to 30% for Burge, a Brunswick resident. In her home county, Miller received 14,357 votes, compared to 3,856 votes for Burge, or 80% of total votes.
According to final, unofficial results, Ashland County’s top votes were all Republicans: incumbents Mike DeWine and Jon Husted with 14,270 votes in the race for governor, Dave Yost with 14,424 votes for attorney general, Keith Faber with 14,018 votes for auditor, Frank LaRose with 14,159 votes for secretary of state and Robert Sprague with 14,004 votes for treasurer.
In Ohio Supreme Court races, Sharon L. Kennedy won the chief justice race locally with 13,690 votes while Pat Fischer with 13,717 votes and Pat DeWine with 13,444 votes for justice positions.
In the U.S. Senate race, Republican J.D. Vance out-tallied Democrat Tim Ryan, 13,132-4,958, in Ashland County.
Ashland County voter turnout was 53.34%.
