Ashland University student Lily Dowler will be performing her senior voice recital in the Center for the Fine Arts building on Thursday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m.
Dowler’s recital completes one of her final requirements for her music major.
The process of picking which music to perform was intentional for Dowler and took some time to come to her final decisions.
“A lot of the recital we had started planning around January of 2023,” said Dowler. “The only thing that has stayed mostly consistently is my French and most of my Italian set.”
Dowler ultimately decided to change a handful of her performances to bring a livelier and more wishful theme to her sets.
The recital will consist of an Italian set, a French set, an English musical theatre set, and a German set featuring AU professor Dr. Thomas Reed.
Music has always been a part of Dowler’s life, and that interest has continued with her throughout her time at AU.
“I’ve always enjoyed music since I was young, and getting other people interested in music has been a big thing.”
Dowler has been part of multiple musical productions at AU including Bat Boy the musical, Once Upon a Mattress and most recently, Merrily We Roll Along.
“Definitely give [music] a try, because you never know until you tried it,” Dowler said. “It’s a very fun major and a lot of the faculty here are nice and encouraging, even if you’re just looking to participate.”
Dowler’s recital will take place in the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall this Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m.
