Ashland University’s men’s basketball team picked up its first win of the 2025-26 seasonon Nov. 16, beating Wayne State 76-64 in a strong away matchup.
The Eagles came out firing, with an effective field goal percentage, building an early double-digit lead and remaining in control for much of the first half. Wayne State tried to fight back, trimming the deficit to just a few points, but Ashland stayed in control, keeping the momentum firmly on their side. By halftime, the Eagles held a slim but comfortable lead.
In the second half, Ashland maintained its dominance, continuing to push the lead as Wayne State continued to try and mount a comeback. Key runs by the Eagles helped them add onto the lead and secure a win that looked in hand for much of the game.
Redshirt senior Maceo Williams led the team with an impressive performance, notching 28 points. At the same time, redshirt junior Cooper Davis added 15 and redshirt freshman Jordan Edwards had 10 to contribute for the Eagles and keep them ahead.
Ashland will return home for its 2025-26 home opener on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. against Salem at Kates’ Gymnasium.
