The Ashland University Overwatch varsity team won their first game of the season versus Xavier University leading 3-0 on the map score.
“Things we’ve been wanting to do in practice really showed up in this game,” Team Captain Cole Webber said.
Map one was won on Lijiang Tower with the game mode objective of capturing the point. The Eagles won the map flawlessly leading 2-0 in the score before going into the second map.
Map two was Kings Row with the Overwatch favorite game mode, payload. Ashland pushed the payload all the way through the map while defending theirs flawlessly, winning them the second map.
Map three was called Survasa, with the game mode being Flashpoint. This map was also flawlessly won by the Eagles and won with a score of 3-0.
“I think we will have a good season because we have a lot of room to grow, and if we can develop them into good players, I think we will have a good season,” Cole Webber said in reflection of the win.
The Eagles will look to the next contest of the season on next Tuesday, Sept. 12 with game time set for 7 p.m.
