The Ashland University women’s basketball team has done it again.

On March 4, 2023, the Eagles waltzed into Kates Gymnasium and took down the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans, 83-65, through four quarters of play.

In the first half, the Eagles dominated the Trojans as they outscored them in each quarter. In the first, the Eagles put up 18 points while shooting 41% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc while the Trojans recorded just 11 points. Through the first three minutes, the Eagles went on a 9-0 run to lead early.

In the second, the Trojans came out of the gates hot and brought the lead back within 3 points, but the Eagles would string together strong possessions on both sides of the ball to keep the lead.

Throughout the last four minutes of the first half, the Eagles were able to go on a run to finish the first half leading 42-24. The Eagles were led by Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year Annie Roshak who contributed on both sides of the ball. Alongside Roshak, Morgan Yoder recorded 12 points, all from beyond the arc.

They finished the first half shooting 9 of 18 from three-point range to start.

In the second half, the Eagles ran away with the victory with ease. The only real sign of struggle appeared in the third quarter where the Trojans brought the game within 11 points. The Eagles were able to rebound by scoring the next 11 however, to answer right back.

In the fourth, they finished off the contest by hoisting the Great Midwest Athletic Conference trophy, securing the 83-65 win.

The Eagles would finish the contest shooting 44% from the field 49% from three-point range and 85% from the free-throw line. Eagle guards Morgan Yoder and Hallie Hiedemann finished with 34 points combined as they led the way for the Eagles.

The win cements their ninth conference title since 2012 and improved the teams win percentage to 97% as the No. 1 team in the country.

The team will now look to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament selection where the team will see who they face in the first round of the postseason tournament.
