Following the AU Board of Trustees meeting held this past week, the board decided to extend AU president, Dr. Carlos Campo’s contract for another year on Oct. 21. Campo will, as of currently, be the president of AU until May 2025.

Jim Hess, chair of the AU Board of Trustees, stated in a press release, “We believe adding another year to President Campo’s service will allow the university to continue the good work that is happening, and will put us in the best possible position to address the challenges private institutions of higher education are facing across the region.”

Dr. Campo has been president of AU since June 2015, and is excited to continue serving as the president.

“[My wife] Karen and I are pleased to continue at Ashland University through 2025. We are privileged to serve the students, faculty, staff and board members here at AU, and look forward to helping our mission and vision continue to thrive,” said Campo.

Campo is now in his eighth year leading AU, and over the course of the eight years, he has accomplished several, successful initiatives.

Some of these successful initiatives include the formation and completion of the “Campaign for Every Individual,” which raised more than $100 million, doubling the initial goal of $50 million, the construction of the Niss Athletic Center, a state-of-the-art, 125,000-square foot, multi-use facility and the development and implementation of the “Rich History, Bold Future” strategic plan.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
