Secret Menu 7: Pumpkin Pie McFlurry

By Nick Zavarella

For the seventh installment of the Secret Menu, I decided to change things up and not eat a cow. I went for dessert and enjoyed every second of it. McDonalds was yet again the destination but this time it was for their ice cream…and pie…blended together. The Pumpkin Pie McFlurry is a traditional McFlurry with Oreo cookies as well as a slice of either apple or pumpkin pie. I chose pumpkin.

When I ordered my meal, I ordered my dinner first. Typical number one and two 6-piece McNuggets for friends. Then the moment I hate/love.

“Can you blend a slice of pumpkin pie into an Oreo McFlurry?” I asked the guy who was taking my order.

His response was calm.

“Do you want two pieces of pie for one dollar?”

Of course my answer was yes but that’s not what is important here. America, as you know, I love you and this is why. I can walk into a McDonalds in Ashland OH, ask the guy taking my order to blend pie into my McFlurry and what does he do? Offer me more pie!

The pumpkin pie chunks made the McFlurry into more of a blizzard. The combo of Oreo, pumpkin and ice cream was a winner though. The dessert turned out to be a little melted considering the McDonalds blenders don’t exactly blend at land speed records.

One major plus was the fact that McDonalds uses spoons that are also straws. Talk about the greatest thing since the spork.

I give the Pumpkin Pie McFlurry an A+. Bottom line, its ice cream and pie; in other news fries do not taste good if you so happen to spill your dessert all over them.
