The Secret Menu Challenge 10: The Cheesy Tropical BBQ Sandwich

By Nick Zavarella

For this week’s Secret Menu, I was unable to make it to Convo before they closed Tuesday, but my floor hockey team won and is 1-0 so that’s good. Luckily for me, the Eagles Nest offers similar food and Ross Willmot knows how to make a hell of a concoction.

After some deliberation between floor hockey amigos, the Secret Menu dinner was decided. Willmot hooked me up with a Tropical BBQ chicken sandwich smothered in cheese fries. I call it the Cheesy Tropical BBQ Sandwich and it doesn’t disappoint.

Because he is the man, Willmot gave me a generous helping of BBQ sauce, a spicy remoulade sauce, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, quesadilla mix, fry seasoning and pineapple sauce along with a chicken breast and peppers. This thing is good. Convo should look into adding it to the menu because the combination of barbecue sauce, whatever hot sauce Willmot tossed on there, along with the peppers and chicken is amazing.

It looks worse than it is thanks to the cheese.

The sandwich looks like it would fall apart easily but the cheese holds everything together in a wonderful mess of deliciousness. Unless Willmot is working, you’re going to have to order the sandwich and cheesy fries separate but the work put into constructing it is well worth it. I realize it probably seems like I do this every week but this is probably the best tasting Secret Menu yet. I’m giving this one an A+. So grab a drink and some napkins and dig in, I promise it won’t dissatisfy.
