Ask Tuffy

Kaitlyn Moore February 17, 2017

What’s your favorite meal at Convo?

Steak Night! An eagle needs his strength to cheer on our athletic teams and attend campus events, and convo steak night does just the trick!

What’s your favorite thing to do on Tuffy Tuesday?

The best part about Tuffy Tuesday is getting out on campus to see everyone, and it’s a great excuse for me to dance in public!

Has Tuffy seen the missing pigeon that’s been advertised on posters around campus?

Wow! Sorry to hear your troubles, I haven’t seen your friend, but I’ll make sure to keep an extra (birds haha) eye out for him! I should warn you though pigeons are notoriously aloof.

What is your favorite campus event?

That’s a tough question, I love them all, especially when there’s AU cookies being passed out!

How do you deal with stress?

Being a mascot for an AMAZING Division II school is fairly stressful. So when I’m feeling really stressed, I fly around a little bit to clear my head, or head to the gym to pump some iron!

Hiya Tuffy! What’s your go-to order at your smoothie bar.

Eagle Explosion all the way!

Hi Tuffy: How did you get your name?

Ahhhh the story of my namesake! Well, they used to call me Victor, that way back in the day when one of the fraternities on campus was responsible for my schedule. Sigma Nu was discontinued for a little while so when the athletic department heard I needed a new place on campus, they took me in; and we switched up the name to Tuffy, a play on being TOUGH! I’ve been Tuffy the Eagle ever since!

You are famous both on campus and in the Ashland community. How do you balance your time with these two groups effectively?

It’s important to get out on campus and in the community, a lot like Division II athletics; it’s all about life in balance! When there is a request to go into the community I always do, as long as there’s not a home athletic contest at the same time!

Sib and Kids Weekend: Feb. 17-19

Sam Didion February 17, 2017

Ashland University’s Office of Residence Life and AU Student Senate will be hosting their annual Sibs and Kids Weekend on Feb. 17-19. This year’s theme is “Fun in the Sun!”

This event is a time for siblings and friends of current AU students to come visit the campus and participate in a variety of activities that will be taking place all over the University.

According to AU’s Residence Life, the activities planned for the weekend include frisbee decorating, baking in Convo, a showing of the movie Moana, activities at the Recreation Center, and many other events sponsored by the residence halls and other campus organizations.

Those who have not registered may still take place in many of the available activities, but they will not receive a shirt or goodie bag without having registered previously.

Some activities, such as baking in Convo, may also be limited without registration.

Guests who have not registered may still visit the Recreation Center with an AU student after filling out the proper waiver form.

All dorm buildings will have 24 hour visitation during this weekend. Guests of the opposite gender are permitted to stay in the residence halls on campus but students are asked to please escort these guests to use the restrooms located in the lobbies.

AU students with Block Meal plans are able to swipe in guests during this weekend. Students or first year student who have the Unlimited Meal plan will be unable to swipe in guests and they will have to pay the Convo pricing for meals which are as followed:

Lunch: $8.85 / $5.55 for child 4-10 years

Dinner and Weekend Brunch: $11.30/ $7.05 for child 4-10 year

See schedule below for date, time, and location of events going on during this event.

For questions, please call the Office of Residence Life at 419-289-5303 or email [email protected].
