On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Ashland University men’s soccer team took on the Lake Erie Storm at home at Ferguson Field.

Heading into the contest, the Eagles were coming off a loss to the Tiffin Dragons on Wednesday. Unfortunately for them, the team’s struggles continued as they were defeated for the second time in a row in a 2-0 outing.

In the first half of play, the Storm dominated.

Lake Erie opened the contest with a goal within the first seven minutes, as they put relentless pressure on the Eagles’ defense early. After the score, the Storm continued to ramp up the pace of play, keeping the Eagles on their toes.

For the Eagles, four shots were taken with the help of midfielder Teddy Togliatti and forward Vander Rocha.  However, they were unable to find a goal.

Going into the second half of the game the Eagles remained down by two goals.

Both teams proceeded to battle back and forth in the second half, with no goals being scored. Ultimately, the final score would favor the Storm, 2-0.

The Eagles were led by goalkeeper Ty Bowden who had three saves and forward Pedro Faria who had three shots attempted and one shot on goal in the second half.

With the win, Lake Erie took the second-place spot in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings, putting the Eagles at 5-7-2 overall record and 5-3-2 in the conference.

The Eagles’ next contest will take place Saturday, Oct. 21 at 5 P.M. at Larry Staudt Field against the Walsh Cavaliers on the road.
