AU men’s soccer wins on the road
The Eagles triumphantly take down the Yellowjackets to secure three points
As the Ashland University men’s soccer regular season starts to draw to a close, the Eagles are currently trying to push themselves up to the top of the standings.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the Eagles defeated the Cedarville Yellowjackets 1-0 on the road.
For the majority of the contest, the two sides played back and forth, each with their fair share of opportunities. The Eagles finished the contest with 16 shots while the Yellowjackets had 11.
Early in the second half Eagle sophomore Jake Grove was able to put them up with a goal in the 49th minute.
Goalkeeper Ty Bowden continued to play outstanding in the net as he had his third clean sheet of the season. He now has 31 saves on the season to go alongside the three scoreless statlines.
With the win, they improve to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Their record aligns them for 7th in the conference. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference post-season hosts the top six teams, showcasing the needed push for the Eagles going forward.
Their next contest comes against the Lake Erie Storm on the road Saturday, Sept. 24.
