The Ashland University athletics scene has seen an abundance of success to finish off 2022.

With the Eagle football team and men’s soccer team reaching the second round of the NCAA Division II postseason tournament, the Eagles were sure to secure themselves a strong point total.

On Dec. 22, 2022, the Learfield Directors’ Cup Division II Final Fall Standings were released with Ashland being slotted at No. 21 in the country in total points. The Eagles finished the fall season with a total of 153 points.

This 21st ranking is the highest ranking since the 2012 fall season and was led by 53 points from the football team

Outside of the football team’s 53 points, the men’s soccer team brought in 50 points and the women’s team brought in 25.

The volleyball team also brought in 25 points. Unfurtuanly, the men’s and women’s cross country teams were unable to secure any points during their season.

A strong start for the Eagles gives the winter and spring sports a prime opportunity to climb the ladder in the standings.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams look red-hot as they sit at the top of the GMAC standings through the start of the season. The swimming and diving and wrestling seasons have also had promising seasons so far.
