The Ashland University Theatre department is holding two events during the first week of classes.

There will be an interest meeting in the Hugo Young theatre in CFA on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. where interested students will be able to meet other theatre students and learn more about the upcoming season and how to get involved with events.

On Sept. 1, auditions for the first play of the school year, “Twelfth Night” by William Shakespeare will be held in room 242 of CFA from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Interested students can sign up for an audition time by contacting Teresa Durbin Ames at [email protected] for the link to available audition times.

To prepare for auditions, students should prepare a one-minute Shakespearean verse monologue of no more than 20-lines. For those who play a hand-held instrument (guitar, ukulele, flute, etc.), they are asked to bring it to the audition and be prepared to share something.

Students who are auditioning for Feste are expected to prepare 16 bars of something to sing.

For more information about any of the information above, people are asked to contact Durbin-Ames by email.
