Eagles clinch GLIAC regular season championship

The Ashland University Eagles (26-0, 18-0) used a 21-0 run to end the first quarter to bury the Walsh Cavaliers (13-12, 9-9) and earned their second straight GLIAC regular season title.

AU led 27-5 after the end of one and was able to extend that lead going into the half as they led 53-20.

The Eagles cruised in the second half as they held of the Cavs attack and came away with the 92-50 win.

With the win the Eagles remain the only undefeated team in Division II. Ashland will be looking to become just the 11th team to finish the GLIAC season unbeaten by winning their final two games.

Andi Daugherty took control early and finished with 24 points and five rebounds. 

Kelsey Peare stayed hot from behind the arc as she knocked down three triples and finished with 13 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Five players scored in double figures for AU as they shot 55.2% from the field.

Brooklyn Wooten led the way for the Cavaliers with 24 points. 

Ashland will wrap up the regular season with a tough road test against Findlay on Saturday before taking on Tiffin at home in their season finale next Thursday.
