AU Marching Band to honor veterans

At halftime of the AU football game on Nov. 10, all military veterans in attendance will be recognized for their service on the field. The game begins at 1 p.m. and all veterans who arrive will receive one free ticket to the game.

In addition to the veterans being honored, AU will also be unveiling a permanently unoccupied seat located in Jack Miller Stadium to honor those who were prisoners of war or declared missing in action.

The eagle marching band will be playing a medley of all the service songs titled “Salute to America’s Finest.”

The director of the AU marching band, Joseph Lewis Jr., said this will be a great game to attend for a few different reasons.

“This is a great game to attend because it is not only the last home game of the season but an opportunity for people to join the Eagle Marching Band in honoring our veterans and thanking them for their sacrifice to our country,” Lewis Jr. said.

With Veterans Day occurring on Nov. 12, this celebration of veterans serves as an early appreciation for their service.

“It is my hope that as many veterans as possible including the families of those who can’t be with us are able to attend so that we can honor them and let them know how much AU appreciates their service to our country,” said Lewis Jr.
