On Sunday, Oct. 14, the Ashland University Choir, Women’s Chorus and Ashland Area Chorus will be putting on their fall concert at 4 p.m. in the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel. The concert will be free and open to the public.

Each year, the University Choir, Women’s Chorus, and Ashland Area Chorus collaborate to put on four different concerts throughout the year.

The University Choir is made up of students from all grades who have gone through an audition process and is directed by Dr. Rowland Blackley who is the professor of Music and director of Choral Activities.

The Women’s Chorus is open to women from all grades at AU and is directed by Julie Strebler-Renner who is in her second year of directing this choir.

The Ashland Area Chorus is open to all adults from the Ashland area and surrounding counties and is directed by Elizabeth Slade.

Strebler-Renner said that the audience can expect a variety of music from a variety of choirs.

She said that there is no overarching theme for the concert, but some of the choirs have decided to follow a theme of their own.

“These groups make beautiful music with things you won’t hear elsewhere,” Stebler-Renner said. “These are things you won’t encounter anywhere else in life unless you attend a choral concert.”
