AU Women’s Golf finished ninth at Gilda’s Club Laker Fall Invitational

The Ashland University Women’s Golf team came in ninth at the Gilda’s Club Laker Fall Invitational in Allendale, Michigan.

The tournament started on Sept. 29 and day one ended with a round of 341 for the Eagles, putting Ashland in 11th place. AU sophomore, Sophie Hemblen led the Eagles shooting at 76 the first day.

The University of Indianapolis finished in first on day one with a round of 306. Kennedy Holtsclaw led the Greyhounds with a round of 77.

Day two ended with another round of 341 for the Eagles. They ended the tournament with a round of 341-341—682, putting them in ninth place out of the 13 schools competing. Sophie Hemleben led the Eagles, ending the weekend in 14th place shooting a 76-83—159.

Eagles sophomore Hannah Lemons shot a 83-82—165 putting her in 27th place. Senior Monica Torda finished the tournament tied for 58th place shooting a 88-89—177. AU freshman Sophia Lowe ended the weekend with a round of 94-87—181. Junior Logan Pottorf finished in 77th place with DNP-94.

Competing individually for the Eagles was freshman Leah Burtscher who finished in 75th place shooting 99-102—201.

Indianapolis took first place shooting a 306-304—610. Whippet junior Kennedy Holtsclaw finished the weekend tied for 1st place shooting a 77-74—151.

Host school Grand Valley State, followed right behind Indianapolis shooting 312-305—617. Lakers junior Katie Chipman and sophomore Olivia Reed tied with Holtsclaw for first. Reed shot a 78-73—151 and Chipman shot a 79-72—151.

Ashland University’s Women’s Golf team are looking forward to competing at the Big Beall Fall Classic in Findlay, Ohio on October 7-8.
