Farson finishes first at Bowling Green

It’s mid-October, which means the leaves are beginning to fall.

So are the times of the Ashland University cross country teams.

Both AU teams ran well Saturday at Bowling Green’s Falcon Invitational.

The AU women were third out of 17 teams and the Ashland men placed fifth in a field of 16 teams.

The Eagle women, ranked 24th in the country, were led by junior Mandy Farson, who finished first in Saturday’s race. Her time on the 5K course was 21:44.0.

AU got another top-five finish from sophomore Stephanie Stoffel. She clocked in at 22:05.2.

Junior Abbie Selhorst posted AU’s third top 20 finish – she was 20th in 22:41.4.

Senior Leah Allen was 27th (22:49.3) and senior Ashley Gregory was 31st (22:50.5).

Malone won the team title with 57 points and Kent State was the runner-up with 66 points.

The Eagles finished with 84 points.

Bowling Green (94) was fourth and Cedarville (147) was fifth.

The men’s championship went to Windsor with 47 points.

Kent State (54) was second and Miami (55) was third. Malone (110) was fourth and the Eagles came in fifth with 160 points.

Kent State’s Scott Hilditch finished first. His time on the 8K course was 24:34.4.

Ashland’s top time was turned in by junior Brock Weaver. He came across the finish line in 25:21.5 putting him in 13th place.

Junior Cameron Johnson was 14th (25:24.2) and sophomore Colton Johnson was 26th (25:37.5).

The Eagles will run this coming Friday at the College of Wooster’s Fighting Scots Festival.
