Ashland University kicker-punter Gregg Berkshire has been named the GLIAC special teams player of the week for Nov. 8.

In last Saturday’s 44-15 win at Ohio Dominican, Berkshire scored 14 points. The junior was five-for-five on extra points and three-for-three on field goal tries. His field goals split the uprights from 26, 48 and 31 yards. Berkshire has two 48-yard field goals this season in addition to a career-best 50-yarder. Berkshire also punted twice against Ohio Dominican and averaged 36.5 yards per punt.

Berkshire is the GLIAC leader in punting (43.3 ypp.), field goals per game (1.50) and kick scoring (82 points/8.2 points per game). He is fifth in overall scoring.

This is the third time in his career Berkshire has been named the league’s special teams player of the week. He won that award once in 2008 and once in 2009. Berkshire is the third AU player to receive the special teams award this season, joining Alan Dunson and Ryan Stackhouse.
