Women’s golf third at Vulcan Invitational

At the California (PA) Vulcan Invitational April 3-4, the Ashland University women’s golf team finished third out of seven teams. The trophy went to host team California with a final team score of 639 (+63).

Grand Valley State was in third place coming into the second day but wound up in second with a team score of (641/+65). Ashland shot 647/+71.

Dianne Luke of California was the individual winner finishing with a score of 152 (+8). Senior leader Annie Miles was second (154/+10). Melanie Fortner shot 162 (+18), which was good enough for a sixth place tie. Erin Misheff shot a 163 (+19) putting her in a tie for seventh place.

As a team, Gannon finished fourth, Findlay took fifth while West Liberty State and Concord brought up the rear.

Cedarbrook Golf Course was the location of the tournament and will host the NCAA Regional Championships later in the spring.
