Knerem is knasty

Ashland University junior Emlyn Knerem was named the GLIAC pitcher of the week last week.

The conference office made the announcement Tuesday, Apr. 12.

Knerem pitched a five-inning perfect game at Ohio Dominican.

Against Northwood, Knerem threw her second consecutive no-hitter. In her career, Knerem has four five-inning perfect games, six no-hitters.

In the second game of the ODU series, Knerem came on to pitch a perfect seventh inning, securing the win. More recently, Knerem has helped the Eagles earn a split against Northwood.

Knerem is 15-3 with a 1.28 ERA in 23 appearances on the season.

She has completed 15 of 18 starts and has 185 strikeouts in 120.2 innings of work. Knerem is seventh in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (10.8) and 13th in shutouts (seven).

Ashland is 22-10 and 14-2 in the GLIAC.

The Eagles are in first place in the GLIAC South.
