Dollar dismissed

Senior defender Jamie Dollar was dismissed from the men’s soccer team last week following a violation of team rules.

The dismissal came on the heels of a two-game suspension he served during Ashland’s 3-1 win over No. 2 Gannon and 5-3 loss to Walsh.

Dollar was in his third year as a regular starter for the Eagles. He was leading the team in goals at the time of his suspension with four, including a game-winner early in the season against Mercyhurst. Two of his goals came on penalty kicks.

Last season, he scored four goals and was named to the 2011 All-Midwest Region second team for the second year in a row. He was also named to the All-GLIAC first team and the 2011-12 Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team.

As a sophomore, he anchored the defense for a team that won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament crowns and made it to the NCAA tournament. He was named to the All-GLIAC first team as well as the All-Midwest Region second team.

He had two goals and an assist in 2010, including the lone goal on a free kick in Ashland’s 3-1 loss to Missouri S&T in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

As a freshman, Dollar started four games.
