There was a lot of question going into this season how the Ashland University volleyball team was going to replace their star outside hitter Brittany Snider.

Based on her play this year, the Eagles were lucky to find their replacement to Snider in freshman Alli Cudworth.

Cudworth was awarded her third GLIAC South “Player of the Week” honor this past week. Cudworth was the offensive leader for the Eagles in their last two matches over the weekend with 22 kills against Wayne State and 12 kills versus Findlay.

She was awarded the first of her three “Player of the Week” awards in her first week of collegiate competition.

Cudworth is currently ranked third in the GLIAC with 387 kills and 3.76 kills per set.

Snider was a first team all-region selection and a Daktronics All-American honorable mention.  She was fifth in the nation in kills (551) and kills per set (4.55) her senior year and led the Eagles to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007 a year ago.

Cudworth is one of three players from AU to win “Player of the Week” honors. Fellow freshman outside hitter Casey Clark has won the award twice and sophomore setter Shelly DeHenning has won it once.
