Eagles challenged by Division I competitors

The Ashland Eagles traveled to Division III powerhouse Kenyon for a meet including Ohio State and Cincinnati. This was a challenging meet for the Eagles, with both the men’s and women’s teams finishing fifth. The men scored 125 points, while the women scored 140.

Despite the difficult competition, Ashland showed some resiliency, competing well in several races. Philipp Sikatzki finished second in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley. 

He was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished second, and the 400-yard freestyle relay that also finished second. The 200-yard team included Sergio Sanchis Peris, Jacob Miller and Hueston Holder, while the 400-yard team included Sanchis Peris, Holder and Alex Sheil.

Sheil also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle.

For the women, Kaylyn Murphy, Anna Evans, Gabby Verdugo-Arzaluz and Laurin McClure finished second in the 200-yard relay.

Ashland will welcome Malone on January 23 at 6 pm.
