Former Ashland University defensive lineman Jamie Meder was signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad after being waived from the roster on August 30.

Meder was signed to a rookie free agent contract with the Ravens on May 12 and played in all four preseason games for the team, recording four tackles and a pass deflection.

Meder was cut when Baltimore was trimming the team down to a 53-man roster, but the team resigned the 6’2”, 300-pound defensive tackle a day later to the practice squad.

Meder was a disruptive force in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in his four seasons at AU.

In 2013, Meder was named an American Football Coaches Association All-American after recording 88 tackles and three sacks.

He was also named GLIAC defensive lineman of the year in both 2013 and 2012.

Meder amassed 63 tackles and 3 sacks in 2012 and was one of the key contributors to Ashland’s defense which was ranked first in the conference in scoring and helped AU win its first ever outright GLIAC championship.

In Meder’s first year with the Eagles in 2010, he had 45 tackles and five sacks. Those stats helped him win 2010 GLIAC Freshmen of the year.

With Meder now officially on the Ravens’ practice squad, he is one of two former Ashland players to be an associated with an NFL roster.

Fellow defensive lineman Jeris Pendleton was drafted in the seventh round of the 2012 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Pendleton was released by the Jaguars after one season and is now entering his second season with the Indianapolis Colts. He is currently listed on the injured reserve.
