The Ashland University men and women’s tennis team competed against Findlay University on Sunday, April 13 for their Senior Day.
Both the men and women lost against the Oilers in final scores of 0-7 and 1-6 respectively.
Despite these losses, Anna Corbel defeated her Oilers foe in final scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
In doubles Eagles Batsomi Marobela and Tomas Paskauskas defeated their Oilers foes in a final score of 6-3.
Although the Eagles weren’t able to pull through with wins, they were able to honor two seniors: Alley Dombroski and Benedikt Weinboerner.

Director of Tennis Operations Eric Gibson detailed the events of senior day to The Collegian.
“The ceremony began with an Easter egg hunt around the perimeter of the tennis courts, followed by a gift exchange of a jacket, jersey, framed photo, and flowers for our seniors,” Gibson said.
He found the ceremony went very well and the entire team was supportive of their graduating teammates.
To round off the day the team took a trip to Downtown Ashland.
“The day concluded with a trip to South Street Grill, where we had one of the best team dinners in all my years of coaching,” Gibson said.
Gibson found that despite the teams not finding a win, senior day was memorable and a great experience for everyone involved.
The women now move to 10-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play while the men move to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
The Eagles will next compete in an away match against the Northwood Timberwolves on Friday, April 18.
