For the past few weeks the sisters of Delta Zeta have been earnestly preparing for Roseball, which is a philanthropy program that supports individuals with hearing and speech impairments.

Last Saturday, Delta Zeta held their fourth-annual Roseball event at the second floor of John C. Myers Convocation Center. The event started at 5 p.m. and closed at 8 p.m. The event required registration.

“This time we will have over 420 people coming,” said Gaby Vitel, Delta Zeta’s president. “Last year, we had about 400 people as well.”

Dressing up in black dresses, the sisters of Delta Zeta gathered at 3:30 p.m. and began setting up for their charity dinner. They practiced singing a beautiful song, titled the Rose, while performing sign language, in honor of their philathropy. A poster were put beside the door showing the very first group members of Delta Zeta, and three photo albums were placed on a table near the door. Food, drinks and snacks are served on three different tables.

About 30 gift baskets were placed on both sides of the room and the silent auction started when most guests arrived. A jazz band played relaxing music as people wondered in the room and wrote their bidding prices down.

After dinner, a philanthropy presentation was given to the guests, followed by the announcement of each basket winner. According to Delta Zeta, all the proceeds from Roseball will be given to the Painted Turtle Camp, their national philanthropy, and their local philanthropy, the Mansfield Sertoma Club.
