Since Oct. 21, Gabe Del Valle has served in the position of The Fraternity and Sorority Life Director at AU.
In this position, Del Valle meets with each of the fraternity and sorority presidents every week, discussing the needs of their chapters.
Del Valle also advises the Inter fraternity Council, as well as the Panhellenic Council, who serve as the governing bodies of the AU chapters.
“My job is to do what I can to meet the needs of the Greek organizations to help them thrive,” said Del Valle.
Fraternity and Sorority Life had majorly impacted Del Valle’s life while in college.
After joining a fraternity chapter, Del Valle was thankful for all provided him.
“In a college setting, not only having an organization that provides positive ideals to aspire to but also having a group of individuals that will hold each other accountable to those ideals was deeply impactful for my undergraduate career and life after graduation,” said Del Valle.
Because of how positively FSL affected him while in college, when Del Valle was presented with a directory position at AU he felt that he belonged.
“When I saw that the position was open, I felt I had the right experience in Greek Life that would do justice to the position and the Greek community,” said Del Valle.
After spending over a month as the FSL Director, Del Valle has enjoyed seeing the impact of Greek life on campus.
“What I love most about my position is being able to watch each of the chapters create their own culture.” He continued, “In a fraternity or a sorority, there is a community of people that come together to run not only a campus organization, but a brotherhood or a sisterhood,” said Del Valle
“This development of culture is one of the aspects of Greek Life that I loved most as an undergraduate, and one that I hope to positively impact as the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life.”
