Ashland University faculty senate approves three new courses and four revisions

With the end of the semester nearing, the Ashland University faculty senate met to discuss and approve courses being offered in the 2024-2025 catalog.  

The three new courses that were discussed and approved are titled EVS 216 Data Analysis and Scientific Investigation, BANA 350 Machine Learning for Business and ECON 310 Sports Economics and Analytics.  

EVS 216 Data Analysis and Scientific Investigation will be offered within the Biology & Toxicology and Environmental Sciences department. The course will fulfill three credit hours.  

BANA 350 Machine Learning for Business is three credit hours and will be offered to Business Analytics students. The course will fulfill three credit hours. The only prerequisite to this is BANA 348.  

The last newly approved course is ECON 310 Sports Economics and Analytics which is designed for economics students. It is held for three credit hours and has two prerequisites including ECON 232 and MATH 108.  

The Financial Management course, FIN 228, was approved by the senate to be revised.  

Along with the new courses, the senate also passed three program revisions to begin in the fall of 2024.  

Three more programs were approved for revising during the meeting. These include a BSBA in Business Analytics, the Business Analytics minor, and the BS in Criminal Justice.
