Ashland Eagles Counter-Strike Global Offensive eSports team pulled off a close game against Rochester Institute of Technology with the final score being, 2-1.

The first map was Overpass, which was the Eagles’ first map pick in the event. Ashland was feeling strong and confident.

A hard-fought battle ensued with the Eagles winning the first half of the first map. After that, came the second pistol round in which Ashland had to win to keep their lead.

The pistol round was won, however, RIT bit back, winning multiple rounds in a row. The map ended with the final score of 11-16 RIT.

Now with the Eagles map pick won by RIT, now came map two, in which RIT picked Anubis.

With an automatic disadvantage for the Eagles, they still did not give up, bringing a very strong first-half win and leading the game 9-6 Eagles.

Starting off the second half of Anubis, RIT takes the second pistol round, leaving the Eagles economically distressed.

With a few save rounds, the hero plays, and hard-fought battles, the Eagles took map two with a grand total score of 16-13 Eagles.

Now winning map two, it all came down to the third map. The map was Mirage, one of the Eagles’ strongest maps.

Similar to map two, the Eagles start off strong with a 9-6 lead in the first half. When the second half started, it was the closest match yet.

After a few rounds of the Eagles losing economically, all came down to the final round, in which both teams had adequate weapons to take each other down. The score was 15-14 Eagles.

After a hard-fought battle, RIT could not keep the event alive, making Ashland win map three 16-14, and in return winning the event.

The team was extremely successful and extremely happy about the event win.

“I’m happy that I have great teammates and they played well and really stepped up to the occasion,” Seth Ho said, in reflection of the game.

“Map 2 was not a comfortable map for the Eagles, so it was good to see map two wins,” Head Coach Alec Mueller said, reflecting on the courage, and the confidence that the team will win after that map pick.

The CS: GO team looks to St. Clair University, in which the team will fight for their playoff position on March 20.

“Keep an eye out for the CS: GO team heading into the postseason, hopefully, we can win a national championship,” Seth Ho said as he gave his final remarks on the regular season.
