Ashland University Archer Library cuts hours in spring semester
The Archer Library cuts its hours from 12 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the spring semester at Ashland University.
The Archer Library is known to be the study center for many students. It was open until midnight every day. However, it is due to the library not being used late at night.
“Library statistics were reviewed, this data indicated that students were generally not using the library after 9 p.m.,” states Diane Schrecker, temporary director of the AU Archer Library.
Schrecker explains that when the data was collected and reviewed, the library made the necessary changes. The decision was made to close the library at 10 p.m.
“We felt that library spaces should remain available to students through 10 p.m.,” Schrecker said.
Some days of the week close earlier than 10 p.m. For example, during regular hours on Friday, the library closes at 5 p.m. and on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Many dates have been set ahead of time that do not follow the regular schedule of the library.
“It is also important to note that we have planned for extended hours near finals,” stated Schrecker.
