The Ashland Symphony Orchestra will present a “Classical Rock” concert on Saturday, January 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert M. & Janet L. Archer Auditorium at Ashland High School.

Joining the orchestra on stage will be local band “Tom’s Kitchen Table” featuring band members Michael Kruman, Ben Smith, Chad Lemon, Drew Plank, and Jeremy Harrison. TKT performs covers as well as original songs written by Kruman. ASO’s Music Director and Conductor Michael Repper has written string accompaniment for several of TKT’s songs. Kruman says, “We are excited for this collaboration with ASO and are honored to have the opportunity. Music brings people together and what a great way to build community here in Ashland!” TKT is sponsored by Grandpa’s Cheesebarn and Sweeties Chocolates.

This concert will also feature Eva Mondragon, ASO’s Principal Violist, on “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen and arranged by Nicholas Hersh. Hersh’s studio recording of this piece has garnered more than 10 million views on YouTube!

The orchestra will open with a medley of Beatles tunes and close the concert with the 2nd movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

Repper says, “I couldn’t be more excited to perform with Tom’s Kitchen Table. One of the first things I noticed about Ashland is how active the local music scene is, and I thought how great it would be if we could perform a cross-genre concert! Collaboration is one of the most important things for arts institutions in the 21st century, and we can’t wait to collaborate with TKT!”
