The Ashland University women’s basketball team has remained as the No. 1 team in the country in the most recent Top 25 ranking, according to the WBCA coaches poll. The poll, which is released every week, saw the Eagles receive 23 votes to be ranked as the No.1 team in Division II. Outside of the Eagles, no other team inside the Top 25 received votes to sit at No. 1.

They are coming off of a dominant week downing the Cedarville Yellowjackets and Northwood Timberwolves by a total of 30+ points in each contest.

Since the last poll was released, the Eagles took on the Yellowjackets on Thursday, Jan. 5, and defeated them 90-60 with the team shooting 17 of 35 from three point range. Those shooting numbers were just one shot short of taking down the program record in three pointers in one contest.

Just a few days later on Saturday, Jan. 7, they took down the Timberwolves 98-67 with the team breaking their former field goal percentage record in a contest. The Eagles made 66.7% of their shots, with the previous record being set in 2003 of 66.1%.

The Eagles currently sit 16-0 on the season and 8-0 in conference play.
