The Ashland University women’s basketball team has stayed No. 2 in the country for the second straight week after defeating the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers and Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in their Saturday and Monday contests.

The Eagles, who remain undefeated and 12-0 on the season, have shown little signs of weakness as they’ve taken on both nonconference and conference opponents.

This season they have been slotted at No. 5, No. 3 two times and No. 2 three times.

With few losses and wins affecting the teams involved in the poll up until this week, this week’s poll has seen a few big jumps.

The top 10 list can be found below, with the remainder being found on the official WBCA poll website:

  1. Grand Valley State (12-0)
  2. Ashland (12-0)
  3. Drury (11-1)
  4. Glenville State (9-1)
  5. West Texas A&M (10-1)
  6. Tampa (10-0)
  7. Minnesota State Mankato (10-1)
  8. Western Washington (7-1)
  9. Missouri Southern State (11-1)
  10. Colorado Mines (10-1)

While there are just three teams left undefeated in the top 10 of the poll, in Division II women’s basketball as a whole there are a total of eight left.

The Eagles look to make a push for No. 1 in the country as they take on two nonconference opponents after Christmas. They look to take on the Michigan Tech Huskies on Dec. 29 and the West Liberty Hill Toppers on Dec. 31.
