The Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Lip Sync is a charity contest between all the fraternities and sororities at Ashland University that takes place once every year.

Chapters perform at Hugo Young Theatre with choreographed songs, along with costumes and props.

Junior Anthony Marchetta, special events chair for Phi Kappa Psi, states that the event is open to everyone to come and watch the competition.

“This is a fundraising event. We raise money via ticket sales for St. Jude’s children hospital. A lot of people normally show up, so we usually raise a lot of money,” said Marchetta.

Chapters will typically have their own specific place to donate the money raised from the event as well.

“We participate every year at Kappa Sigma and all the guys and I have a lot of fun doing it. It’s just a great time to cut loose and be part of something fun that can help raise money for good things,” said Seth Ho, philanthropy chair of Kappa Sigma.

Some of the chapters also perform multiple songs with different themes throughout the event and the teams that win are awarded with the FSL Lip Sync trophy.

The event takes place on Sunday, Nov. 20 in Hugo Young Theatre at 6 p.m.

“I encourage everyone to come and if you are interested just contact someone in a fraternity or sorority about purchasing tickets to attend,” said Marchetta.
