The Ashland University football team continues to have a stellar 2022 campaign, but this past week they took a step back falling to the Hillsdale Chargers, 38-20.

The Eagles were previously ranked at No. 6 in the nation for four consecutive weeks but after the unexpected loss, they have fallen eight spots to No. 14.

On Oct. 29, the Eagles traveled to the Hillsdale Chargers and ultimately could not find their usual rhythm in the loss.

Before the loss, they won seven straight and their defense was ranked as one of the best in the nation. At one point, they were holding opponents to less than 10 points per contest until their most recent two contests.

The Eagles look to continue conference play with two matchups remaining against the Lake Erie Storm (Nov. 5) and the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (Nov. 12).

Even though they fell, this marks the 80th time the Eagles have been ranked in the AFCA coaches top 25 poll since 2000.
