5th-year Haruki Kimura secures his seventh and eighth goals of the season

The Ashland University men’s soccer team pulled off a 3-0 win over the Ohio Dominican Panthers on the road to secure first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings alongside the Tiffin Dragons.

Forward Haruki Kimura and midfielder Vander Rocha secured the three goals to improve their record to 10-4-1 overall and 9-3 in conference play.

The contest was competitive throughout the majority of the contest until the Eagles took the initial 1-0 lead in the second half.

In the 51st minute, midfielders Oliver Lovell and Oliver Whaley assisted on a Kimura goal to break the scoreless stat line.

As the game continued on, the Eagles and Panthers went back and forth as 23 fouls and six yellow cards were committed.

In the 71st minute, Rocha secured a goal, making that his sixth of the year, and pushing the lead to two goals.

Just 10 minutes later Kimura would find his second goal of the contest pushing the lead to 3-0.

With the victory goalkeeper Ty Bowden recorded nine saves and recorded his fifth shutout of the season.

They look to take on the Findlay Oilers on the road Saturday, Oct. 22 with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
