This week marked the highest amount of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Player of the Week recognitions for Ashland University this fall semester, with the athletic teams taking home four awards. This week’s winners come from the football and soccer teams.

At Ferguson field, women’s soccer goalkeeper Bri Rogers and forward McKinley Mendenhall took home defensive and offensive player of the week respectively.

Bri Rogers posted six saves in two games on the week, which resulted in two shutout performances vs Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene.

On the offensive side of the ball forward McKinley Mendenhall posted two goals and two assists over the two-game span to help the Eagles to two victories.

On the men’s soccer side of things, goalkeeper Ty Bowden put an impressive two-game performance as well. Bowden allowed just one goal this week, along with posting four saves in two games played.

Moving over to Jack Miller Stadium, quarterback Austin Brenner won offensive athlete of the week for the football team.

Brenner in a 56 to 17 domination against the Northwood Timberwolves put up a season-high 306 passing yards, along with two touchdowns. Brenner’s strong air raid performance helped the Eagles be moved up to No. 6 in the national ranking poll.
