Ashland University sports programs have received a Great Midwest Athletics Conference award now for four consecutive weeks. This week’s winners come from the Football and Volleyball teams.

On the turf, freshmen kicker AJ Rhodes won special teams player of the week following his 2 field goals and 4 PATs made on the road in a 34-14 win vs the Quincy Hawks. Rhodes put on an impressive performance in his first full collegiate start, after being put into the starting kicker role after a shaky special teams start to the season.

On the volleyball court, Makenna Belcher won offensive player of the week in now back-to-back seven-day spans. Belcher this past week recorded 36 kills, a .350 hitting percentage, two assists, six service aces and 25 digs.

Remaining on the volleyball court, libero Katie Thompson received the defensive player of the week honors for the 3rd time this season. Thompson this past week recorded 50 digs, two kills, four assists and three service aces.

The volleyball team with strong performances from its star players is 7-0 in conference play, and now has 6 player of the week honors overall through 12 games this season.
