Ashland has loved Lyn-way since 1951

If you were ever looking for a nice family meal or the best pie in Ohio, look no further than your hometown Lyn-Way restaurant.

Lyn-Way was first owned and operated by Stoops’s grandfather in 1951. Stoops’ mother , Janet Stoops, was the second generation owner and took over duties up until 2017. Rob Stoops is now the third generation owner and has managed the restaurant for 5 years.

“Besides our regulars who eat three square meals a day and are very loyal and good to us, we do a good job as a family owned restaurant to bring in fellow families,” Stoops said. “We have people say to us that this is the best place in town whether it is to see people you don’t see often or for a get together for coffee and a piece of pie.”

Stoops agreed that there are differences in being a small town restaurant and not a big corporation but he thinks some of those differences favor his very own Lyn-Way.

“People know that with this being family run… you get better service and it is a cleaner place,” Stoops said. “Whether you are one of our regulars or a new customer, you will get our best service with some good food and more affordable prices.”

Lyn-Way’s staff is something that Rob Stoops couldn’t talk about more from an owner’s perspective. There are 52 people on staff right now and are still looking for more employees.

“We definitely could use six to eight more employees to open back up to our regular Monday to Saturday schedule instead of our modified schedule right now which is Tuesday to Saturday,” Stoops said.

Wanting new employees to come in and mix with workers is sometimes difficult but Stoops has trust in his veteran long-time workers and believes that they are the anchor to make Lyn-Way successful.

“We have 14 Lyn-Way employees who have over 400 years combined service so I think that has something to say about how much people like working here,” Stoops said.

Lyn-Way is known for their fresh baked that were voted “#1 Pie in Ohio” back in October of 2019 from Google resources.

The food specials on the other hand have been the same for the past 20 years, highlighting that spaghetti night is their most popular special that happens on Wednesday nights. Stoops said the specials for food are so popular, they don’t feel the need to change anything.

Lyn-Way was is rated 4.6/5 stars out of 1,200+ Google reviews and was rated the #1 restaurant in Ashland,OH.

“People say sometimes words can’t explain how you feel….what those ratings mean to my family as I mean Lyn-Way family, my team works so hard and is so dedicated and they put a lot of their own time on the side but it means a lot when it comes to these recognitions that are given to us,” Stoops said.

Lyn-Way is currently open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
