The Cleveland Browns are now officially 1-1 after their first two games of their 75th anniversary season. Following a tough road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday, the Browns bounced back to win their home opener against Houston by a final score of 31-21.

Here’s a quick recap of how both games went down.

Week 1 at Kansas City Chiefs – L (33-29)

The Browns got out to a flying start behind two Nick Chubb rushing touchdowns, building a 22-10 lead at halftime. However, turnovers and a quick burst by the Chiefs defense in the second half sent Cleveland out with a loss.

The biggest mistake of the game came when Browns punter Jamie Gillan dropped a fourth-down punt in the fourth quarter giving the Chiefs the ball inside the Browns’ 20. After that, the Browns defense could not keep up with the Patrick Mahomes-led offense, and Cleveland could not recover.

Week 2 vs Houston Texans – W (31-21)

There were a lot of injuries throughout the game, but the ones that are the most concerning to Browns fans are Baker Mayfield and Jarvis Landry. Mayfield only left for a possession in the second quarter with a hand/shoulder injury, but he returned one possession later. However, Landry’s injury appeared to be more serious, with reports saying that he sustained a sprained MCL. Landry is considered to be week-to-week going forward.

Houston quarterback Tyrod Taylor returned to Cleveland for the first time since he last played for the Browns in 2019 and had a solid game, but left in the second quarter and did not return due to a hamstring injury.

The Browns took momentum in the game early on a muffed punt, and then stepped on the gas to grab an early 7-0 lead. Houston responded quickly, and then took a 14-7 lead late in the second quarter, but Mayfield responded with a five-yard rushing touchdown to deadlock the scoreboard going to the half.

Houston rookie quarterback Davis Mills stepped in in place of the injured Taylor, where he proceeded to throw an interception on his first drive, and Cleveland took advantage with rookie running back Demetric Felton rushing in for his first career touchdown. The game was close throughout, but the Browns managed to seal the victory with a Nick Chubb touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
