The Ashland University STUNT team travelled south to play in Texas for the St. Edward’s STUNT tournament from March 6 to March 7.

On day one, the No. 8 ranked Eagles took on the No. 13 Texas Woman’s University and won 30-23. That game became the highest scoring game in program history with 53 total points.

Freshman top/tumbler Izzy Thomas was the leading scorer against Texas Woman’s with 53 points.

The Eagles then turned around to play Division I No. 7 Central Arkansas, where they won that game 29-16.

Leading the way for the Eagles against the Sugar Bears was junior top/tumbler Savanna Mahaffey and junior back/base/tumbler Makiah Francis with 47 points each.

Then the Eagles returned to play on day two where they took on No. 1 ranked Oklahoma Baptist, where they gained their only loss of the trip, losing 29-5.

They then rebounded by defeating No. 12 St. Mary’s 21-20.

Francis once again led the Eagles in both games with 11 points against Oklahoma Baptist and 41 points against St. Mary’s.

The Eagles now move to 13-5 overall on the season. The Eagles return to conference play when they travel to take on the No. 23 Walsh Cavaliers on March 16 at 6:30 p.m.
