Volleyball remains unbeaten at home

The Ashland University Eagles celebrated senior night with a 3-0 win over the Wayne St. Warriors on Friday night.
The first set brought back and forth leads between the Eagles and the Warriors. A block at the net by Reanne Neal started the point lead for the Eagles before they took the set 25-21 with Alli Cudworth making the set winning point.
The second set also had both teams leading within a five point or less advantage. The Eagles overcame a 22-21 advantage after a service error on the Warriors and took the match point winning 25-23.
The Warriors took the first three points in the first few minutes of the third set before Alli Cudworth helped to tie the game at three points a piece. Freshman Shelby Woycik assisted in the set by recording nine kills in the 25-19 win to take the game 3-0.
The Warriors recorded 13 service errors in the loss against the Eagles.
Alli Cudworth recorded a game high of 10 kills and seven digs. Melanie Aguayo also added 11 digs.
Casey Clark, Mallory Slyder, and Cudworth were the seniors that were recognized for their season and their accomplishments.
The win against the Warriors allowed the Eagles to secure second place in the GLIAC South Division.
The come-from-behind win against the Findlay Oilers Saturday afternoon improved the Eagles’ home record to 10-0 in the season.
The first set brought an early Oiler lead before the Eagles tied it up at 19 points each. The Oilers then took the set 25-22 after finding an empty spot on the court between two Ashland players.
The second set brought many service errors by both the Eagles and the Oilers. The Eagles led the set with the Oilers within a five point range before catching up to even the score at 16 points each. The Eagles block at the net finished the set at 25-22 to tie it at one set per team.
In the third set the Oilers took a three point lead that carried on throughout the rest of the set. After evening out the set at 23 points per team, the Oilers pulled ahead to take the set 26-24.
The Eagles came back with a momentum shift after taking an early lead and not looking back. Shelby Woycik had the set winning kill to take the set 25-15 and making it 2-2 in the game.
After a small point lead by the Oilers to start off the deciding set, the Eagles took the lead after back to back kills by Woycik. The Eagles played off the on-going momentum by taking a four point lead and carrying that lead to the end. Casey Clark recorded the game winning point with a kill ending the set and continuing the home winning streak. The Eagles won the fifth set 15-10.
